SERVICES
I will provide a comprehensive assessment and develop an individual treatment plan to suit your specific needs to help you reach your goals. The treatment approach used during your physiotherapy care is supported by best-evidence based practice and will primarily be manual therapy based, including soft tissue release, joint mobilizations and/or manipulations. I do not use any modalities (ultrasound, TENS, heat, ice etc.) so the whole treatment time can be spent doing hands on therapy, and I only see one client at a time. Manual therapy, exercise and education are what are most supported in Physiotherapy research and so they are the focus of my practice.

-
Manual therapy: hands on treatment consisting of joint mobilizations, traction, manipulations etc. to help restore normal joint mobility, improve muscle tone and improve overall movement and function
-
Soft tissue work: may include a variety of techniques such as soft tissue massage, trigger point release, stretching etc. to release tight muscles, improve muscle tone and decrease pain
-
IMS/dry needling and Acupuncture: IMS (intramuscular stimulation) is a needling technique that specifically targets tight bands and trigger points in muscles to help release the muscle and decrease pain, and also relieve pressure on other structures such as joints. Only suggested if it would benefit you and you're comfortable with this treatment
-
Exercise prescription: rehabilitation specific exercises and developing a home exercise program, typically the last 5 minutes of the appointment will be used to go over any exercises and I often send a home program through an exercise prescription app.
-
Post surgical rehabilitation: it is important to work on re-gaining mobility, strength and function after surgery, I work with a variety of clients after many different types of surgery such as: knee replacements, hip replacements, tendon/muscle repairs, ligament repairs, spinal surgeries, fracture repairs etc.
-
Chronic pain management: will include a variety of the above services and also communication with your health care team including your doctor about any other treatment modalities that could help manage your pain
-
Education - I will discuss my assessment findings with you and provide education on your injury and diagnosis, which may include what to do and not do, use of heat/ice, exercises, postures to avoid etc. I stay up to date on current research and will provide evidence based education
